do i need to go college to become a make-up artist?

im quite good at make-up and i would love to become a makeup artist i was wondering if i would really need to go college or could i just make a really good portfolio and promote myself?

if you did go to a collage to do a course it would probably give you even more ideas and skills that you may not already have also due to health and safety. its good to have a qualification in it as people may choose you more over someone else who hasn’t got one
